Principal's Message

December 2023

Dear PS 206 Families,

The holidays are now upon us and with all of the celebrations and activities taking place I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy and healthy holiday season.

During the month of December we will continue our School Spirit events with Wear Plaid Day on Dec. 8th, Ugly Sweater Day on Dec. 15th, and Winter Pajamas Day on Dec. 22nd.

Please note the following:

Friday, December 22, 2023, is a regular day of school.
Winter Recess begins on Monday, December 25, 2023. May you enjoy your time with your family and friends during this Winter Recess.
Schools will reopen on Monday, January 2, 2024.
Mrs. Rizzi is working hard to ensure all students have an i-Pad or other device. If your child has not yet received a device, know that we are working to remedy this situation.
Holiday Homework Assignments will be assigned through i-Ready, First in Math, and Acadience.

November 2023

Dear PS 206 Families,

September and October have passed and November is now upon us. Our clocks have fallen back one hour and cool winds blow causing leaves to swirl to the ground, and leaving a chill in the air. Autumn is in full bloom.

As we switch out our jackets for coats and sandals for boots, here is what’s happening at our school:

Parent-teacher conferences were held on Thursday, November 2, 2023.
Students and staff wore pajamas to school for Pajama Day, Monday, November 6, 2023. (We do this the first Monday after we change our clocks, every November and March.)
Student Government Elections were held on Monday, November 6, 2023.
All NYC Public Schools were closed for Election Day, Tuesday, November 7, 2023.
Reading by Twilight will take place on Wednesday, November 15th from 5:30 to 7 pm; for students in Pre-kindergarten through Grade 2.
Parent Association Meeting will take place on Thursday, November 16th at 8:10 am.
School Leadership Team Elections will take place immediately following the PA meeting on November 16th.
Friendsgivng – an arts & craft activity coordinated by Miss Leyva (aka Miss Maggie,) Parent Coordinator, will take place on November 21, 2023.
We celebrate Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 23rd. All NYC public schools are closed on November 23rd and 24th for Thanksgiving Break.
Start of our Scholastic Book Fair begins on Tuesday, November 27, 2023.
Eye on Education Eye Exam visits will take place on Thursday, November 30, 2023.

We have completed our beginning of year testing and students should now be logging in to the following accounts to receive self-paced instruction in Reading and/or Math, 45 minutes each week (15 minutes every other day):

i-Ready Math
First in Math

Classroom teachers can provide you with the username and passwords for each of your child’s accounts if you do not already have them. Additionally, if you have not already connected to ClassDojo send in a note letting your child’s teacher know that you need assistance. Miss Maggie is also available to assist you with technological issues.
